We've been blessed to travel the world with our adult kids and have loved seeing new places and spontaneously exploring new sights.   We've stayed in many great vacation rentals in several countries and know how wonderful it is to enjoy a beautiful well-equipped house, be able to eat out or cook at home, chill by your own private pool, and enjoy time with family or friends, with the option to retreat to the privacy of a comfortable en suite bedroom. 
 

In recent years our kids have married, and we've been promoted to grandparents (Gigi and Babbo) - so overseas family travel is not as feasible.  We've realized it's time to find a place that the kids and grandkids will love returning to time and time again.   That's how we ended up owning Casa Gibo Del Mar - (ie. Gigi / Babbo's "House by the Sea").

Casa Gibo Del Mar is designed for friends and families to enjoy a comfortable house within the solitude of a gated community while enjoying the wonderful and diverse activities of St. Croix.

 

Casa Gibo is in the gated Shoys neighborhood which includes Shoys Beach - one of the highest rated snorkeling and sunning beaches in St. Croix.  The beach is an easy walk or a quick drive from the house.  From the parking area, it's less than 50 yards through a mangrove tunnel to reach the sand and water - and the odds are good you will be the only one on the beach.  Casa Gibo is equipped with beach chairs (6), beach umbrellas (2), a cooler, assorted water toys, and a collapsible wagon to haul your gear to the sand and gorgeous azure blue water of Shoy's Beach - or any of the dozens of other easily accessible beaches around St. Croix.

Unlike most island houses, all of Casa Gibo's bedrooms are accessible from the hallway in the main living area.  Three of the four upstairs bedrooms have king-sized beds and all have private full baths.  All bedrooms and the kitchen/dining area and family room are air conditioned (also unusual in St. Croix), but you'll probably never need to turn on the AC during the day.  The sea breezes are amazing the majority of the year.  We mostly use the AC in the bedrooms while we're sleeping.

The optional lower-level apartment has a queen-sized bed as well as a queen-sized sofa bed.   The apartment has an exterior entrance but can also be accessed by interior stairs from the main floor if you include it in your rental.

If you’re traveling with small kids or grandkids, there is a high-chair, pack-n-play with sheets, a baby gate for the top of the stairs, children's plates and utensils, kid's toys and books, and even a baby safety fence that can be installed around the pool for a $150 setup fee.  The basement apartment is a great place for the kids to nap or to put the kids to bed early while the adults continue to relax upstairs.

St. Croix has many amazing restaurants, but you may also want to grill your fresh catch on the pool deck or cook a delicious dinner in Casa Gibo's well-equipped kitchen.  Our property manager can even arrange a private chef to cook if you want to be pampered.  We've equipped the kitchen with everything you'll need to prepare basic to gourmet meals.   We always strive to make the house better for the next guest; so if you see something we're missing, please let us know, and it will be there for your next visit.

 

A blessing / curse of the last few years is that many of us can take work with us to the islands.  Babbo is no exception - so we've equipped the master bedroom with a work desk, comfortable office chair, HDMI monitor, USB 2.0 keyboard, and USB 2.0 mouse.   We've purchased the fastest internet available on St. Croix, and you should have no trouble staying connected if that's what it takes to leverage and extend your time in paradise!
